Oil Painting
with JOAN HUMBLE
Mondays 9:30am - 12:30pm

Cost: $168
These classes will cover the basics of good painting. These are tonal values, mixing and the use of colour, good composition, and different techniques of applying paint. These classes are suitable for students of all stages of learning and new students will be assisted to progress at their own level and pace.
Painting with Friends -
Watercolour
Mondays 1.30 pm to 3:30 pm
17 February - 14 April (no session 10 March)
9 weeks x 2hrs
Cost: $45 ($5 per session)
Painting with Friends groups meet together in a supportive environment to continue their art, encouraging and learning from each other. These groups are untutored. Participants share their experiences and enjoy the company of fellow artists in an informal atmosphere. Members are welcome to stay until 4.30pm if a key holder is available to lock up the studio.

Wonderful Watercolours

Watercolour is a wonderfully transparent medium that can give you effects that no other medium can match.
We will be exploring a variety of subjects and trying out different approaches from the classic to the contemporary. Each week I will demonstrate new subjects and techniques for you to try, provide a range of reference materials to inspire you, and give you guidance and support as you paint.
Urban Sketching to Travel Journal

Would you like to sketch urban scenes? Would you like to find out where and how to start? How to decide the best angle for beginning your work? Is perspective important for your work? Drawing people? Combining objects/subjects to heighten your creativity?
Sketching freely, quickly and often will heighten your skill in observation.
In this course we will take a journey from urban sketching to recording your adventures with a travel journal of memories.

Nature Journalling

Spend a few hours with Dr Tanya Scharaschkin to get you started on your nature journaling adventure. Nature journaling is the practice of drawing or writing in response to observations of nature. It helps you notice details in nature while slowing down and giving yourself time to relax and reflect. No drawing experience or skills required.
Please note: We will spend most of our time in outdoors in bushland around the Studio, so a reasonable level of mobility and suitable outdoor clothing are required.
Time to Draw

In this course, highly awarded arts educator, Rosie Mckeand, will extend your creative talents and build your confidence in communicating through visual arts.
- Play and explore a variety of mediums including graphite, charcoal, inks, pencil, fineliners and water-soluble media on a range of surfaces and papers.

- Explore the language of mark making in a fun and supportive environment.
Contemporary Painting in Oils or Acrylics- EVENINGS
with Amber KOROLUK-STEPHENSON

Classes will focus on contemporary oil and acrylic painting techniques, encourage students to explore a variety of painting styles, considering ways that colour relationships, texture, form, and perspective can make bold, playful and visually dynamic works.
Classes will cover basic tonal values, colour theory and mixing, and ways different types of paint brushes and painting methods can create different effects. This will involve class discussions, tutor demonstrations, individual production time, and one-to-one time between the tutor and students. Suitable for students at all stages of learning. New students will be assisted to progress at their own level and pace as they develop their own approaches to painting.

PRINTING with Friends
Thursday afternoons 1:30 - 4:30
Cost: $5 per session

Printing with Friends runs as an informal untutored group that meets together on Friday afternoons on an ad hoc basis for printmaking. Use your own printmaking methods, techniques and materials, including the printing press if required and authorised. Participants learn from each other, share their experiences and enjoy the company of fellow artists in an informal atmosphere.

Intuitive Pastel Painting

This course is suitable for beginners and more advanced students.
This term we’ll focus on mark making, imaginative use of underpainting techniques and compositional devices to introduce added interest to our paintings. We’ll take a look at the works of various pastel artists and see what makes their paintings sing.
Each week there will be a different topic to explore set by the tutor. Within this topic students will be encouraged to pursue their own interests in terms of painting subject matter although reference material will also be supplied by the tutor.

Portraits in Soft Pastels

Barbara ETTER
Fridays 1:30 - 4:30

Cost: $84
This course will cover the basics of animal, human and floral portraits, particularly bringing an image or drawing to life with colour, detail and dimension. You do not need to attempt human portraits if you do not want to.
Portraits will be done from photo references (although you may want to bring a floral arrangement along to paint from). Animals will include birds, farm animals, reptiles, wildlife, insects and creatures of the sea and ice.
There will also be an opportunity to do floral portraits.
