History
The Colour Circle was formed in 1967 under the guidance of Rosamond McCulloch as a tutorial - based art school and club. The Colour Circle supports and encourages local adult artists by providing the opportunity for members to share their enjoyment of creating and developing their artistic abilities as a circle of friends.
We are a small Not for Profit group run by a committee of volunteers elected from within its membership. Please scroll down to the bottom of this page where you can open the constitution document for your information . We currently have 9 members on the committee. The Annual General Meeting is in March when a turnover of committee members is expected.
We are fortunate to have a very talented group of tutors who are leaders in their fields of art. These tutors willingly share their knowledge and expertise to help members to explore and develop their own creative talents. Our classes are provided during four 8 week terms each year with a four week break between terms. Our terms are aligned with the public school terms.
Objectives
The Colour Circle’s objectives are to:
-
Encourage and develop the study and understanding of art amongst its members;
-
Promote fellowship between members; and
-
Promote a greater interest and understanding of art in the community.
The Colour Circle pursues these objectives by:
-
Conducting classes with experienced tutors including painting and drawing with a variety of media;
-
Offering untutored “Painting with Friends” groups. These groups provide an atmosphere in which members can continue their art in a supportive environment encouraging and learning from each other;
-
Conducting occasional workshops with our tutors and other local artists; and
-
The presentation of member’s art works at Colour Circle Exhibitions, and by providing information about exhibiting in other local exhibitions.
